Pioneer to Progress

When I first signed the “dotted line” to become the first patient at the Cleveland Clinic to halt MS through HSCT, there was lots of excitement that day. It seems as time went on and things progress the excitement kind of fizzled out. I am not sure if it was because of the ups and downs with COVID or if it was because of the changes with the director of the Blood and Bone Marrow Transplant team? Things definitely have not move like I thought they would. Until December of 2021. The Multiple Sclerosis Association of American reached out because they wanted to feature stories of alternative treatments for MS. My story will be featured in the HSCT treatment part of the article. If you don’t receive that magazine, you will be able to find it here later this month. I have been doing physical therapy at Oxford Physical Therapy since May of 2020. I have been very pleased with my progress. Balancing on a soft surface while throwing a ball would not have happened before HSCT.

A couple of weeks ago they invited me to be a guest on their Direct Access Podcast to share my story. You can listen to it here.

I am not sure what comes next but, I am always available to talk and share about HSCT for Autoimmune disease. The progress might be a little slow but I pray that some day, HSCT will be an available option without “jumping through hoops”.

Until next time…. Make it a great day and share your story!
